About making up missed fasts
Making up missed fasting days during Ramadan is an obligation for every Muslim who could not fast for various reasons (illness, travel, menstruation for women, etc.).
When to make up missed days?
Missed days can be made up at any time of the year before the next Ramadan, except on days when fasting is forbidden such as the two days of Eid and the days of Tashriq.
Recommendations
- It is preferable to make up missed days as soon as possible.
- Mondays and Thursdays are recommended as they are voluntary fasting days according to the Sunnah.
- The three white days (13, 14 and 15 of each lunar month) are also favorable times.
In case of inability to make up
If a person cannot make up their days before the next Ramadan due to chronic illness or old age, they may offer the Fidya (compensation) by feeding a poor person for each missed day.
